October 13-15 marked our first Pack Family campout for the 2017-18 scouting year.
We camped in the mini-dacks in the Nestucca campsite of Camp Clark on the Oregon Coast…just south of Cape Lookout.
While it was rainy Friday for those packing and driving down, the coast itself was a bit cold at times but a dry and beautiful weekend overall. While we had a relatively small group of 8 scouts, 10 adults and 2 siblings in attendance…4 of the 5 Dens were represented as 1 new Tiger Scout did attend, so that is excellent!
Activities included sandcastle building, model rockets launched on the beach and a 1-mile roundtrip hike down to the tide-pools to look at some of the amazing wildlife. Lots of sea stars, barnacles, anemones, conches and sand dollars were found along with some bullwhip kelp. Before heading out on Sunday, Pack 351 did a campsite clean-up!
The homemade pumpkin spice pancakes for breakfast made by Cubmaster Jen were a hit as were the marinated chicken, rice and carrot burritos for dinner made by Outdoor Activity Leader Tracy…Pack 351 may just have to make their own cookbook with some of these great recipes to share!
Overall -it was a fantastic weekend, beautiful weather and a lot of fun!
Our next Family Campout is planned for April 20-22…more details will likely come out in March…be sure to mark your calendars!
