Scouts and parents in Pack 351 has a lot of options for fun and learning. Here are some of the activities we do to help the world and our pack:
Pack & Den Meetings
Pack and den meetings happen about 3 times per month. Scouts in each den who participate in den meetings do activities related to required and elective adventures. These meetings are the easiest and best way to achieve the requirements for rank and advancement.
Pack 351 serves the SE Portland community in a variety of ways throughout the year. We pick up trash and litter in parks, we collect food for local food pantries, we write letters to nursing homes, and we also do other fundraising activities.
About once per month, scouts and adults in Pack 351 have the opportunity to go on local hikes through our Hike Club. These are kid- / family-friendly hikes in the Portland metro area.
A few times a year, the Pack has the option to join other scouts on major camping events (like the camporee), other times we have our own campout for scouts and their adults. Summer camp is also a major activity each year. The Council has some beautiful properties for scouts to enjoy. (And you can’t forget the Camp4All!)
Pack 351 engages in several fundraising efforts throughout the year. Fundraising helps reduce the costs for activities and dues for scouts. Here are a few of our major fundraising efforts:
- Christmas Tree Recycling (after Christmas to the first or second weekend in January) | We partner with Troop 351 to recycle trees, wreaths, and garlands after the Christmas holiday.
- Camp4All | This fundraiser helps ensure that all scouts have an opportunity to go to summer camp.
- CubCake Auction
- Coin Wars
It is a long-standing scout tradition: to race pinewood cars, hand crafted for speed and/or style… Every winter, scouts and adults alike race and compete for design and speed.
STEM-enthusiasts have the opportunity to participate in the Pack’s Nova club to learn all sorts of things about science, nature, math, and technology.
Calling all bakers! Pack 351 has an annual competition for the sweet, strange, scout-themed, and all-n-all yummy-looking edible art that we know as cakes. Often, the CubCake is an auction to raise funds for the pack.
The Recycle Regatta is where Pack 351 make boats out of recycled material. We race them and we parade them. This helps raise awareness about the environmental impact of the ‘stuff’ we use.
