When is a good time to get started?
Pack 351 welcomes new scouts any time of the year. Just contact our Cubmaster or the Den Leader in your age group – or, just show up at one of our meetings.
If you have an interest in learning more about our Pack, if you have questions, or if you are ready to get started, please come to a meeting or contact us via email – firstname.lastname@example.org.
When do we meet?
Pack Meetings are normally held once per month and all of our scouts (1st-5th grade) get together in the same place. The meeting is normally led by the Cubmaster on the Third Monday of the month (exceptions being December, March & May) at 7-8:15PM.
You are welcome to stop by if you are considering joining the Pack. We gear the meeting towards the kids and the goal is to have fun and recognize them for their recent accomplishments (with awards, pins, loops, badges, and whatever else we dream up).
Den Meetings (when each age group meet directly with the Den Leader) are normally held twice a month on the second and fourth Monday of the month (exceptions being December, March & May) from 7-8:15PM, and when there are specific outings are scheduled.
Pack Meetings and Den Meetings are held in the St. Ignatius School cafeteria, shown in the map below with the red star. 3330 SE 43rd Ave
What is the Cost of Joining?
First – don’t let the cost scare you off. It’s not that expensive and our Pack is able to assist if you need help. The person to see about assistance is the Committee Chair. This will be kept between you and them but you can tend to that later.
Second – The annual dues are $100.00 with a portion of this cost going to national BSA and our local Council with the remainder to help fund our monthly Pack activities and awards. National has added an additional $25 for the first year a Scout joins only.
The appropriate handbook is $13- $19.
The uniform prices vary…our Pack only requires the following: uniform shirt (which is good for several years); hat; neckerchief…slide, belt & uniform pants are optional
New uniform costs can be pricey but there is local Uniform Bank to help if needed, https://www.cpcbsa.org/uniformbank; Requests can be submitted to Carolyn Kirby at email@example.com, There are no forms to fill out to request a uniform, as we use the honor system.
Others have found used uniforms in good condition for great prices on Offer Up and at thrift stores.
We are not worried about the fees being paid all up front, we are happy to work with you and make monthly payment arrangements. Our Council also offers many individual fundraising opportunities to help offset the costs of scouting.
Scouting is actually quite reasonable considering all that your child will be doing throughout the year.
Don’t let the cost get in the way of your decision.
