Cubmaster Deb is working on something for over Spring Break…
The campout will be happening on the second week of spring break beginning on Friday night March 26th and continuing onto Saturday morning with an in-person meeting at St. Ignatius from 10am-2pm and a movie that night. It will conclude with a Scout’s Own on the morning of Sunday the 28th.
Please send me pictures of you enjoying some Rocket Camp activities and we will enjoy a slide show as a part of our closing ceremonies!
Friday March 26, 2021: Please set up your campsite (outside if you like, but under your dining room table or in your room in a tent is fine, too) and be ready to craft! We will be meeting to create our rockets to launch during the in person meeting Saturday morning!
Please print out the above pictures and bring them to our 5pm meeting in addition to: thick paper or cardstock in several colors, tape, scissors, a glue stick, and markers or crayons. (If you like you can even print out the Seltzer Rocket onto colored paper.)
Friday March 26th @ 5pm: we will meet for a Zoom session to craft some rockets and maybe watch some space videos. Check your email for the reminder from Scoutbook or email me for the link: email@example.com
Supplies that you will need:
ruler, scissors, crayons or markers, tape, cardstock or thick paper, glue stick, above printout
A little preview for you:
Saturday March 27th: sign up for a rocket launch time slot! I will be at the St. Ignatius parking lot from 10am-2pm. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4EAFA62FAAFFC52-spring Every attendee will need a slot so that our participant count is accurate.
You will also need to fill out the COVID screening for every attendee: https://forms.gle/kVPwzHFCNZ2WryDy8
If you have not turned in the medical forms this year, please bring them to turn in during the in person meeting.
Saturday afternoon: On your own. Using the above outlines of rockets and a paper airplane, create some salt painting art and borax crystals rockets (links below)! You can do these as time allows and show them off on Sunday morning!
Borax Crystals. You will need: pipe cleaners, borax, hot water, string, a large glass or jar
Salt Painting: You will need: white glue (Elmer’s is best), salt, cardstock or thick paper, food coloring or water color paints.
Our Borax crystal rocket!
If you like, I also have a scavenger hunt! You can take pictures when you find the items or just check them off.
You may also spend some time checking out the Mars Rover from the NASA website!
Saturday March 27th 6pm: we will watch “October Sky” about a young man who decided to build a rocket and his efforts took him all the way to NASA! (This movie is rated PG.)
Sunday March 28th 10am: Wake up, eat some breakfast, and meet us for Scout’s Own! Please send me pictures of you enjoying some Rocket Camp activities and we will enjoy a slide show as a part of our closing ceremonies!
